About

Jacqueline Labate: Much of my work involves strengthening math programs through long-range systemic initiatives. Of greatest interest to me is how children form conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas, and how educators can help students become powerful and confident problem solvers. Particularly as it relates to empowering the learner, my emphasis on problem solving as the heart and soul of an effective math program provides students with life-long skills that go far beyond the classroom.  In recent years I have been working on incorporating social justice themes, which brings an important depth to school programs.  In 2010 I founded The Growing Peace Project, a peacemaking, social justice, and youth activism educational nonprofit.  All TGPP programs are entirely free for schools.
